Shift the Paradigm

"The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift. We will not solve the problems of the world from the same level of thinking we were at when we created them. More than anything else, this new century demands new thinking: We must change our materially based analyses of the world around us to include broader, more multidimensional perspectives. " -- Albert Einstein (Wikipedia)

A paradigm is a distinct way of thinking or model of reality that contains the basic assumptions and methodology that are commonly accepted by members of a society or group.

A model of a "Paradigm Shift" was introduced in 1962 by scientist Thomas Kuhn who wrote The Structure of Scientific Revolution (Amazon). Kuhn describes a paradigm shift as a "series of peaceful interludes punctuated by intellectually violent revolutions", and in those revolutions "one conceptual world view is replaced by another". A Paradigm Shift is a change from one way of thinking to another. The paradigm, in Kuhn's view, is the entire worldview in which it exists, and all of the implications which come with it.

A paradigm shift is a revolution that is driven by agents of change.

An example of a paradigm shift is the revolution in literacy that followed the introduction of the printing press. The printing press was the agent of change. The leap in literacy, religious freedom, political change and enlightenment that followed is the associated shift in the world view.

What is our Core Paradigm?

The term "paradigm" is commonly applied to many fields and models including business, medicine, science, religion, politics, etc. So, in the broadest and most comprehensive sense, what is the most core fundamental paradigm of out existence and purpose for existing?

I propose that there are Two Paradigms. This is a Spiritual concept that, in my opinion, is compatible with all religions and even atheism (perhaps arguably).

For simplicity, these two paradigms are the "Freedom Paradigm" and the "Control Paradigm". The differences are in their core function, the worldview that they create and how they operate.

A key concept here is Energy. Energy in this context is the life force energy as differentiated from the forms of energy that are measured by the tools of physics. All energy in this understanding comes from one Source. One can think of this Source as God except that this God has no personality or limitations imposed by religious belief and dogma.

Individuals functioning within the Freedom Paradigm maintain a connection to the Source and through the Source to all other lifeforms. There is available energy for living, manifesting, healing, creating and taking care of business. in this paradigm, individuals are respected, encouraged and facilitated to reach their highest potential. Everything operates on a win-win principle. Freedon is found in not being bound by the limitations of limited access to energy and the suffering that is created. The freedom paradigm consciousness is not restricted by materialism.

Individuals functioning within the Control Paradigm have a belief in the separateness, and isolation of all life from other life and from higher mind, energy and intelligence. Those immersed in the paradigm of separation lack access to the energy, knowledge and wisdom that those who are conntected have. Those in the separation paradigm have to acquire their energy, power and resources of survival from their enviroment, and from others. In other words, those separated from the Source have to control, exploit and manipulate others in order to acquire power, energy and resources. The control paradigm consciousness is restricted by materialism and reductionist materialist thinking.

How does this kind of separation occur? It is the result of greed, lust for power, self-centeredness and egocentric thinking. You can see this expressed in the corruption, greed, prejudice and injustice in the world around you.

The two paradigms define the differentiation between good and evil, light and dark, morals and ethics and enlightened versus not.

The Paradigm Shift that I am proposing is the shift from a Control Paradigm Consciousness to a Freedom Paradigm Consciousness.

Shifting the Paradigm

This shift is not accomplished by providing information or through reason and debate. The information is readily available, but not everyone is interested. This shift is not accomplished by changing or controlling people. People only truly change when they choose to.

"...holding positive ideas (as important a step as this is) is not sufficient by itself to change the world. We still need direct communication between individuals, we need to translate our ideas into action, and we need to recognize the freedom of choice of those who choose alternatives different from our own." - Elaine Myers

An agent of change is needed.

The Agent of Change

The agent of change works by these principles:

  • We all affect each other by our presence and our energy.

A classic allied concept is the morphogenic field. This concept has been elaborated by scientist Rupert Sheldrake, PhD. and others. Sheldrake is a scientist with impeccable credentials who has received considerable resistance and criticism from the scientific community. The more one looks at this objectively, the more it begins to look like the resistance phase in Kuhn's Paradigm Shift process. A good interview with Dr. Sheldrake can be read here: The Science of Interconnectedness

  • Those with more free energy have a greater affect than those with less energy.

  • Through practice, training and dedication all individuals can achieve positive internal evolution, raise their consciousness and increase their energy.

  • Several individuals working together have a greater affect than the same number of individuals working alone.
  • When enough individuals make a personal paradigm shift, a "critical mass" is reached and the collective paradigm shifts with them.

So, what is the agent of change? It is you and I. when we change our consciousness, we affect the collective consciousness and the worldview of those around us. When this happens, there is greater receptiveness to positive and reformative efforts made by ourselves and others.

This website is about the background of these concepts, how they work and practical how-to steps that you can apply to your own growth and development of consciousness and higher energy.

The Path The Path is a book about the Spiritual journey that we all take. Who are we, why are we here, what is consciousness, what is enlightenment, how do we grow Spiritually? There are detailed instructions on basic and advanced meditation and the Kuji-In or nine syllables meditation from Hindu, Buddhist and Ninja traditions. There are also instructions on using forgiveness and recapitulation to recover energy and resolve karma.
